ARTICLE I- NAME
The Association of Women in Automotive
ARTICLE II- PURPOSE
The Association of Women in Automotive exists to provide education, training and support as well as facilitate professional contacts and communication among women working in the automotive industry and their allies. The Association additionally promotes and strives for excellence and equity in the Automotive Industry as a whole.

ARTICLE III- MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Membership is open to any person who is
or has been employed or is currently
working toward employment in any sector of the Automotive Industry. This includes parts, distribution, education,
service, manufacturing or support personnel of any sub-sectors of the
automotive industry.
Section 2. Membership is open to any person who
meets the membership requirements, regardless of sex, education, age,
disability, race, religion, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation,
or gender identity.
Section 3. Active members shall pay a yearly
membership dues for March 1st through February 28th of $35 or $20
for students or anyone currently unemployed, including those who are
retired. Payment of dues
classifies a member as an active member and affords that member the privilege
of voting in all matters regarding the organization and the ability to hold
office.
Section 4. Any non-dues paying member shall be
classified as a inactive member, and will be invited to all social activities,
included in general announcements regarding the organization and will be
welcome at all meetings, but will have no voting privileges and is unable to
hold office.
Section 5. There shall be no dues or fees levied upon
members except those mentioned in ARTICLE III Section 3 of these bylaws.
ARTICLE IV OFFICERS
Section 1. The officers of this organization shall
consist of a president, vice president, secretary, and treasure. These officers shall constitute the executive
committee.
Section 2. Only active members shall be eligible to
hold office or head special committees.
Section 3. The method of nomination shall be from
the floor by an active member. Officers
of the organization shall be elected by secret ballot to serve for two years. Nominations
shall take place in the November meeting every other year beginning in 2013 and
voting shall take place at the January usual meeting. All officers shall take
their office following that meeting after their election and shall remain in
office until their successors are elected.
Section 4. If for any reason the office of th e
president should become vacant, the vice president shall fill that vacancy for
the remainder of the term. If any office
other than the president shall become vacant, that vacancy shall be filled by
appointment of the executive committee for the remainder of the term.
Section 5. No member shall hold more than one office
at a time and no member shall be eligible to serve more than two consecutive
terms in the same office.
Section 6. The officers shall perform duties
prescribed by these bylaws and by the parliamentary authority adopted by the
organization.
ARTICLE V - MEETINGS
Section 1. The regular meetings of the organization
shall be held on the final Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise ordered by
the organization.
Section 2. The regular meeting on the last
Wednesday of January shall be known as the annual meeting and shall be for the
purpose of electing officers and receiving reports of officers and committees.
Section 3. Special meetings can be called by the
president or by the request of active members
of the organization. At least two-days notice
shall be given to all members.
Section 4. One third (1/3) of the entire active
membership shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business, but less
than a quorum may adjourn any meeting.
Section 5. The president of the organization shall
preside at all meetings for the organization.
Where the president is unavailable, the vice president shall
preside.
ARTICLE VI - PARLIAMENTARY AUTHORITY
The rules contained in
the current edition of Roberts Rules of
Order Newly Revised shall govern the organization n all cases to which they
are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with these bylaws and any
special rules or order the organization may adapt.
ARTICLE VII – AMENDMENT OF THE BYLAWS
These bylaws can be
amended at any regular meeting of the organization by two thirds (2/3) vote of
active members, provided that the amendment has been submitted in writing at
the previous regular meeting.
